ABOUT
Marco Kamimura – Owner & Head Guide
is the owner and head guide of Xicanx Fly, offering personalized and educational fly fishing experiences in the heart of the Iowa Driftless and Great Lakes regions. An EDUCATOR at heart and an angler by passion, Marco has spent years exploring freshwater fisheries across the U.S., from the intimate mountain streams of the West Coast to the legendary waters of the Northeast. Now, he finds home in the diverse and dynamic fisheries in between, intentionally and distinctively calling the Upper Midwest home.
Marco’s love for water and fish is deeply rooted in a long family history of coastal peoples and cultures. Marco’s angling journey began in the rocky high desert streams of the Eastern Sierras, where he cast rooster tails alongside his grandfather. This early passion evolved into an OBSESSION with fly fishing during his teenage years in Michigan, where he eagerly pursued anything and everything willing to take a fly. The pursuit of his first steelhead on the fly solidified his IDENTITY as a fly angler, while his passion for sharing knowledge and time with good people in breathtaking places shaped his CALLING as a guide.
Fly fishing is more than just catching fish; it’s a cultural experience. Marco has learned and grown from the unique traditions of fly fishing communities across the country. Now he brings that rich knowledge home to the Driftless and Great Lakes regions. His greatest honor as a guide is watching CONFIDENCE flourish in anglers of all skill levels as they develop the techniques and mindset to be successful on any water type.
At Xicanx Fly, Marco provides a customized approach tailored to each angler, from first-timers to seasoned veterans. Whether you’re exploring the underrated limestone bluff country of the IOWA DRIFTLESS for the first time or refining your skills on the world-class smallmouth and steelhead MICHIGAN rivers, Marco is dedicated to crafting an UNFORGETTABLE experience in pursuit of wild ADVENTURES.
